Itzhak Perlman and Daniel Barenboim perform Beethoven’s Violin Concerto

Daniel Barenboim and Itzhak Perlman have been friends and colleagues for practically the whole of their lives. In the spring of 1992 they performed Beethoven’s Violin Concerto with the Berliner Philharmoniker in the city’s Schauspielhaus. This is a work which in terms of the writing for the solo instrument opened up a completely new world of expression. The performance underscored yet again Perlman’s much-lauded qualities of a mellow, full tone and magnificent, apparently effortless technique.
