Programme Guide
Meet the Orchestra – with this theme, the Education Programme of the Berliner Philharmoniker invited music lovers of all ages to the Philharmonie from 2006–2008. Especially for the many children in the audience, it was exciting to see how orchestral instruments work and what wonderful music you can make with them. This film shows some of the highlights from these concerts.
How long is a horn if you unroll it? Meet the Orchestra is also about questions like these and comes up with a clear answer at once: about as long as a garden hose. The audience is not expected to just sit in their seats either: they join in, try things out, and dance about. Each section of the orchestra makes an appearance and demonstrates the capabilities of the tools of their trade.
Besides the discovery tour, Meet the Orchestra includes a lot of music. In our “Best of” series, you can hear unusual arrangements of well-known pieces, such as the Habanera from Bizet’s Carmen, played by the violas of the Berliner Philharmoniker, or the Tango Olé Guapa in a version for wind quintet. We hope you enjoy getting to know the Berliner Philharmoniker!
