Franz Welser-Möst’s distinctive sound and innovative programming have shaped the Cleveland Orchestra like no other – as music director with the longest tenure in the orchestra’s history, the ensemble has regularly performed at all major international festivals under his direction. As a guest conductor, the Austrian, who was also general music director of the Vienna State Opera, has a close artistic partnership with the Vienna Philharmonic. As an opera conductor, he has also time and again set new standards at the Salzburg Festival.
