Sir Simon Rattle sobre Witold Lutosławski (10 min)

2013 marked the hundredth anniversary of Witold Lutosławski’s birth, which was why his works formed a focal point at Musikfest Berlin. Sir Simon Rattle has committed himself to Lutosławski more than any other conductor of our time. In a Berliner Philharmoniker Musikfest concert in 2013, he presented his Second Symphony, Leoš Janáček’s Glagolitic Mass and Songs by Gustav Mahler. Together with music journalist Margarete Zander and Winrich Hopp, the artistic director of Musikfest Berlin, Rattle talks about his memories of the great Polish composer, Christian Gerhaher – the season’s artist in residence –, and the characteristics of a good concert dramaturgy.
