Sir Simon Rattle conducts Sibelius’s Symphonies

For Simon Rattle, Jean Sibelius is “one of the most exciting and original composers of all time”. And indeed, this music possesses a unique tonal language, the manifold beauties of which are conveyed particularly vividly in the Finnish composer’s seven symphonies. To mark the 150th anniversary of Sibelius’s birth in 2015, Simon Rattle and the Berliner Philharmoniker presented the complete cycle to unanimous acclaim from audiences and the press alike. “The Philharmoniker demonstrate that Sibelius is in excellent hands with them and Simon Rattle,” wrote the Berliner Zeitung.
