Beethoven’s Piano Concertos with Mitsuko Uchida and Sir Simon Rattle
There is hardly a better way to get to know Ludwig van Beethoven than through his piano concertos. They are perfect examples of his ability to craft grand orchestral works with unbroken dramatic tension. The complete recording with Mitsuko Uchida and Sir Simon Rattle was one of the Berliner Philharmoniker’s most talked-about projects during the Rattle era – and at the same time the high point of the collaboration between the orchestra and the pianist, which has been ongoing since 1984.
