Yannick Nézet-Séguin conversa con Emmanuel Pahud (10 min)
The Canadian Yannick Nézet-Séguin is one of the most gifted and successful conductors of the younger generation. He has already taken up a significant number of important posts with great orchestras in Canada, North America and Europe, including as principal conductor of the Philadelphia Orchestra, music director of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and principal guest conductor of the London Philharmonic. Nézet-Séguin concentrated on French and Russian repertoire at his previous appearances as guest conductor with the Berliner Philharmoniker; in March 2014 he turned his attention for the first time to a work in the Austro-German tradition: Mahler’s Fourth Symphony. In conversation with Emmanuel Pahud, principal flautist of the Berliner Philharmoniker, Nézet-Séguin tells of the grueling and yet exhilarating life as a star conductor frequently on the road, and of his relationship to Gustav Mahler’s music.
