Leonidas Kavakos sobre el Concierto para violín de Dutilleux (27 min)
In the 2012/2013 season, the Berliner Philharmoniker invited a violinist as Artist in Residence for the first time: Leonidas Kavakos, who made his debut with the Berliner Philharmoniker with Sibelius’s Violin Concerto in 2003. In the following years, he was also heard with the orchestra as the soloist in the violin concertos by Bartók, Brahms, Beethoven and Korngold. The press praised his technical impeccability, nobility and the intelligent delicacy of his playing. As Artist in Residence, Leonidas Kavakos was involved in numerous chamber music concerts – and on one occasion in the main auditorium as the soloist in Henri Dutilleux’s concerto for violin and orchestra, L’Arbre des songes. To celebrate this evening, Matthew McDonald discussed the work with the violinist.
