Pablo Heras-Casado’s work is wide-ranging, from the Classical-Romantic orchestral and operatic repertoire to historically informed performance practice and Contemporary music. The Spanish conductor made his debut with the Berliner Philharmoniker in 2011: “It’s wonderful to feel the energy of this orchestra.”

Pablo Heras-Casado first studied art history and drama in his home town of Granada before training as a conductor at the Universidad de Alcalá in Madrid. He regularly makes guest appearances in the USA with the orchestras in San Francisco, Chicago, Los Angeles and Philadelphia. He also works with such renowned orchestras as the Philharmonia Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra, the Staatskapelle Berlin, the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra and the Munich Philharmonic. From 2011 to 2017, Pablo Heras-Casado was chief conductor of the Orchestra of St. Luke’s in New York, and in 2014 was appointed principal guest conductor of the Teatro Real in Madrid. He has appeared at the Metropolitan Opera in New York and Wiener Staatsoper, among others, as well as at the festivals in Aix-en-Provence and Verbier, and at the BBC Proms. Heras-Casado is a dedicated teacher who works with young musicians around the world, including projects with the Karajan Academy of the Berliner Philharmoniker, the Juilliard Orchestra, the Barenboim-Said Foundation and the Gustav Mahler Academy. In 2018, he was made a Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, and in 2021 he was named Artist of the Year at the International Classical Music Awards.
