Nina Stemme
sopranoThe Viennese [Die Presse] wrote enthusiastically that the “all-time unbeatable Birgit Nilsson has found a successor in Nina Stemme”. In fact, the Swede with her flawless soprano has been one of the most sought-after singers for demanding dramatic roles for years: from Isolde, Brünnhilde, Kundry, Fanciulla and Turandot to Salome and Elektra. The fact that Nina Stemme initially avoided these highest peaks of the soprano repertoire is a special feature of her career – and perhaps the secret of her success, as the singer consciously took her time to develop. She can be seen as Elektra with the Berliner Philharmoniker alongside chief conductor Kirill Petrenko.
