He is “a magnificent young conductor”, says Daniel Barenboim glowingly of his former assistant and current general music director of Oper Frankfurt, Thomas Guggeis. The young artist made his acclaimed debut at the Metropolitan Opera in New York in May 2023. Since then, Thomas Guggeis has been a regular guest with leading international orchestras. Before his official debut with the Berliner Philharmoniker in September 2025, he conducted a concert with members of the brass and percussion sections that was streamed without an audience during the pandemic.
