Miembros de la Filarmónica de Berlín recuerdan a Claudio Abbado (15 min)
Claudio Abbado died on 20 January 2014. He was the principal conductor of the Berliner Philharmoniker from 1990 to 2002, and every May since then he had returned to the orchestral rostrum. On the occasion of the memorial concert with works by Schubert, Mozart and Bruckner, orchestra musicians such as Emmanuel Pahud, Marie-Pierre Langlamet and the former principal violist Wolfram Christ speak about their memories of the great musician, whom everyone always affectionately called Claudio. They talk about Abbado’s shy and approachable personality, the often diffuse rehearsals, which were in baffling contrast to the sublime concert experiences, and high points of their collaboration, such as numerous performances of Mahler.
