Jaap van Zweden conversa con Christoph Streuli (19 min)

Jaap van Zweden began his musical career as a 19-year-old with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam – not as a conductor but as a concertmaster. In 1996, he exchanged his violin for a baton and launched an international career as a conductor. Currently head of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, Jaap van Zweden made his debut with the Berliner Philharmoniker in May 2013, standing in for Mariss Jansons who had to withdraw due to illness. In an interview with Christoph Streuli, violinist with the orchestra since 1997, van Zweden talks about his career and his view of Bartok’s Concerto for Orchestra and Johannes Brahms’s First Symphony.
