Daniel Harding conversa con Jonathan Kelly (18 min)

The English conductor Daniel Harding made his debut with the Berliner Philharmoniker at the age of 21, and has returned to the orchestra on a regular basis ever since. In the 2017/2018 season, he was invited to conduct two programmes which were to be performed in Berlin and at the Philharmoniker’s Easter Festival in Baden-Baden. In March 2018, the programme included orchestral versions of some of Franz Schubert’s songs plus Richard Strauss’s Alpine Symphony, unsurpassed in its descriptions of landscapes and emotions. Harding talks to his fellow countryman, Jonathan Kelly, principal oboe with the Berliner Philharmoniker since 2003, about the Schubert arrangements by Berlioz, Brahms and Max Reger and the hidden depths in Strauss’s last tone poem.
