Lang Lang, whose piano playing seems to be free of physical or technical limits, has been described by the New Yorker as the “world ambassador of the keyboard”, and by the New York Times as “the hottest artist on the classical music planet”. The pianist inspires millions – whether at large-scale events or at intimate piano recitals, such as his 2004 debut in the Berliner Philharmoniker’s piano series. The Chinese star has been an acclaimed guest of the orchestra for many years, and was its Pianist in Residence in the 2009/10 season.
