Seiji Ozawa and the Berliner Philharmoniker

From his first encounter with the Berliner Philharmoniker in 1966, Seiji Ozawa earned both respect and affection. The young Japanese conductor knew exactly what he wanted. Nevertheless, Seiji Ozawa – always polite and approachable – never imposed his views on the orchestra. This gave rise to a partnership of equals, which made it possible to make music in which freedom and spontaneity always had their place. This edition of radio recordings, primarily from the 1980s, is intended as a tribute to Seiji Ozawa, who was made an honorary member of the Philharmoniker in 2016.
