For Gramophone magazine, Boris Berezovsky is “surely the true successor to the great Russian pianists of the past.” In January 2012, he performed Franz Liszt’s Piano Concerto No. 1 alongside conductor Tugan Sokhiev – a work that alternates masterfully between effervescent furore and delicate melodic lines. At the same time, Liszt achieves one of his most important artistic goals: namely, to extend the expressive and tonal possibilities of the piano to the very limit.
