Boris Berezovsky on Liszt’s First Piano Concerto (14 min.)
For Gramophone magazine, Boris Berezovsky is “surely the true successor to the great Russian pianists of the past.” In January 2012, he performed Franz Liszt’s Piano Concerto No. 1 alongside conductor Tugan Sokhiev – a work that alternates masterfully between effervescent furore and delicate melodic lines. At the same time, Liszt achieves one of his most important artistic goals: namely, to extend the expressive and tonal possibilities of the piano to the very limit. In our interview, Berezovsky talks about his view of the work.
