With over 100 CD releases, more than 20 Grammy nominations and two Grammy Awards to his name, Pinchas Zukerman is one of the most sought-after violinists of his generation – and all with a consistently recognisable, distinctive tone: in an interview with Aleksandar Ivić of the Berliner Philharmoniker, he said “sonority is just about everything we need”. He continued: “The DNA that exists is Klezmer. My father was a great Klezmer. So immediately music was part of our existence.” Zukerman, who since his debut in 1974 has appeared on many occasions in the concerts of the Berliner Philharmoniker, is also a dedicated teacher, conductor and chamber musician.
