Jordi Savall

Conductor

Jordi Savall – visionary thinker, grand master of the viola da gamba and one of the leading conductors of our time – is one of the luminaries of historically informed performance practice. He is the founder of several renowned original sound ensembles and has rediscovered forgotten music and brought it to the public in thematically curated concerts. Savall, who together with his ensembles has often given captivatingly fresh performances in the Berliner Philharmoniker’s Early music series, has gradually worked his way chronologically forward through the repertoire – all the way to Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven and Schubert. For his debut conducting the Philharmoniker, he presents works by Rameau, Gluck and Mozart.
