Max Reger’s “Mozart Variations” – an introduction with Malte Krasting Season opening 2023: Kirill Petrenko conducts “Ein Heldenleben”
A hero, resentful adversaries and a faithful companion all appear in Richard Strauss’s Ein Heldenleben. The work, in which Strauss draws parallels to his own life, boasts an opulent richness of sound. With this tone poem, Kirill Petrenko opened the 2023/24 season – “captivatingly spirited, with due space for the composer’s caricatures and adorned with the delights of wonderful solos” (Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung). Also on the programme is Max Reger’s Mozart Variations.
