Kirill Petrenko with Messiaen, Hindemith and a world premiere
Kirill Petrenko conducts three works of great spiritual and evocative power: Olivier Messiaen’s Les Offrandes oubliées is a soaring meditation on guilt and redemption. In his symphony Mathis der Maler, Paul Hindemith uses majestic, austere sounds to depict three scenes from Matthias Grünewald’s Isenheim Altarpiece. Sarah Nemtsov’s music is expressive and moving; the Philharmoniker will give the world premiere of her new work Antlitz.
