Daniel Harding in conversation with Emmanuel Pahud (13 min.)

At the beginning of 2016, the music world mourned the passing of Pierre Boulez, who had close ties with the Berliner Philharmoniker both as a composer and conductor. Shortly after his death, a work by Boulez had already been programmed for a concert under the direction of Daniel Harding: The Mémoriale (... explosante-fixe ...Originel) for flute and chamber ensemble, written to commemorate the death of Stravinsky, would now became a moving moment of remembrance for its composer. In this interval feature from the concert, the soloist and conductor of the performance, Emmanuel Pahud and Daniel Harding, talk about their personal encounters with Pierre Boulez and the role that he played in musical life of the 20th and 21st centuries.
