Zubin Mehta with Mahler’s Fifth Symphony
As a student, Zubin Mehta was introduced to Mahler’s cosmos by Bruno Walter, one of the composer’s former assistants. At this concert, he conducts one of Mahler’s most popular symphonies, the Fifth. The work became well-known for its tender Adagietto. The concert begins with a fanfare by Boris Blacher, composed for the opening of the Philharmonie, and a new work by Milica Djordjević, winner of the Claudio Abbado Composition Prize in 2020.
