Family concert: “The Wooden Prince”
Béla Bartók’s music for The Wooden Prince is beautiful and eerie at the same time. The ballet tells the story of a prince who is madly in love with a princess. However, an enchanted forest and a wild stream prevent him from getting close to her. Without further ado, the prince carves a life-size doll and dresses it in his clothes and crown. A fairy brings it to life. Who will win the princess’s heart, the real prince or the puppet prince? Chief conductor Kirill Petrenko and the Berliner Philharmoniker reveal the answer in our family concert.
