Markus Poschner and Christian Gerhaher
Christian Gerhaher performs two melancholic vocal scenes that illustrate the idea of nature as a mirror of the soul: Der Einsame im Herbst from Mahler’s Das Lied von der Erde, and a discovery by Alphons Diepenbrock, whose work was highly regarded by Mahler. In the orchestral song Im großen Schweigen, a figure reflects on the limits of language and thought. Markus Poschner concludes his debut concert with Franz Schubert’s Great Symphony in C major.
