Emmanuel Pahud in conversation with Stanley Dodds (29 min.)

Emmanuel Pahud has a close artistic friendship with Daniel Barenboim, who the Berliner Philharmoniker appointed as its first honorary conductor in 2019. In November 2020, the Philharmoniker’s principal flute performed two virtuoso works under the baton of Barenboim: Jacques Ibert’s Flute Concerto, one of the repertoire’s showpieces, and Ferruccio Busoni’s Divertimento, first performed by the Philharmoniker in 1921. In this interview with violinist and orchestra member Stanley Dodds, Pahud talks about Ibert and Busoni, who appeared as conductor and pianist in numerous concerts with the Philharmoniker, and about Hector Berlioz’ Symphonie fantastique which was performed in the same programme.
