Kirill Gerstein

Piano

There are good reasons why Kirill Gerstein is now a celebrated pianist with a wide-ranging repertoire spanning classical music to jazz: thanks to the vibraphonist Gary Burton, he began studying jazz at Berklee College of Music in Boston at the age of 14 – as the youngest student ever. It was only shortly before graduating that he switched to the classical programme at the Manhattan School of Music, completing his training under Dmitri Bashkirov and Ferenc Rados. Today, Gerstein, who holds both Russian and US citizenship, is regarded as one of the most versatile musicians of our time. He made his debut with the Berliner Philharmoniker in 2016, performing Rachmaninov’s Second Piano Concerto.
