Alain Altinoglu is music director of the Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels since January 2016 and has earned widespread recognition for his leadership and inspiring performances. He is also music director designate of hr-Sinfonieorchesters Frankfurt, commencing from the 2021/22 season.
As a guest conductor, Altinoglu performs with renowned orchestras such as the Wiener Philharmoniker, the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, the Philadelphia Orchestra, Cleveland Orchestra, the Russian National Orchestra, the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, Royal Stockholm Philharmonic, the Staatskapelle in Dresden and Berlin as well as Tonhalle Orchester Zürich. Also a regular guest at the world’s leading opera houses, Altinoglu appears at the Metropolitan Opera New York, Royal Opera House London Covent Garden, Wiener Staatsoper, Opernhaus Zürich, the Teatro Colón Buenos Aires, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Staatsoper Unter den Linden, the Bayerische Staatsoper Munich and all three opera houses in Paris. He has also appeared at the festivals in Bayreuth, Salzburg and Aix-en-Provence. Alain Altinoglu’s has a strong affinity with the lied repertoire; he regularly performs with mezzo-soprano Nora Gubisch and has released several recordings with her.
Born in Paris in 1975, Alain Altinoglu studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris where he now teaches the conducting class.
