Family concert: “Francesca da Rimini”

In this Berliner Philharmoniker family concert, chief conductor Kirill Petrenko presents a story of forbidden love without a happy ending. The dramatic music is by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, and Francesca da Rimini is the name of the story in which the carefree Francesca is to marry the warlike Giovanni in order to settle the long-standing dispute between their families. Giovanni wants to hide his ugliness from Francesca and sends his brother Paolo to her. Francesca falls in love with Paolo – and the chaos unfolds...
