Giovanni Antonini in conversation with Raimar Orlovsky (18 min.)

As a flautist and conductor, Giovanni Antonini is one of the most interesting experts in historical performance practice, and Il Giardino Armonico, co-founded by him in 1989 and directed by him, has brought him international renown. He made his debut with the Berliner Philharmoniker in 2004, and returned to the orchestra in September 2010 to conduct an exciting orchestral journey with music from the Baroque to Beethoven. In an interview with the violinist Raimar Orlovsky, who has been a member of the Philharmoniker since 1991, Antonini explains the reasons that determine his choice of programme, the relationship between the works of Johann Sebastian and those of his son Carl Philipp Emmanuel Bach and the differences between Baroque ensembles and a modern orchestra such as the Berliner Philharmoniker.
