Manfred Honeck in conversation with Albrecht Mayer (14 min.)
The Austrian conductor Manfred Honeck, whose debut in 2013 left a strong impression on the orchestra, stood in at short notice for an indisposed Yannick Nézet-Séguin for a Berliner Philharmoniker concert at the Easter Festival at Baden-Baden. Honeck grew up in a musical family and gained orchestral experience as a violist with the Vienna Philharmonic before launching his successful career as a conductor. Together with the Philharmoniker's principal oboist Albrecht Mayer, the artist talks about the legends that surround the Tchaikovsky Symphony known as the “Pathétique”, and on working with the Berliner Philharmoniker.
