The Berliner Philharmoniker: opening of the 2011/12 season (5 min.)

To mark the start of the 2011/2012 season, members of the Berliner Philharmoniker welcomed the audience to the Digital Concert Hall, narrating – each in their own language – what they got up to during their holidays and what they were particularly looking forward to in the new season. The highlights included tours to Asia and North America for the musicians plus the conclusion of the Mahler cycle under the baton of chief conductor Sir Simon Rattle, the Salzburg Easter Festival with a staged production of Georges Bizet’s opera Carmen and performances together with Bernard Haitink, Christian Thielemann, Zubin Mehta and Claudio Abbado as well as their Artist in Residence Murray Perahia.
