Sir Simon Rattle on the completed Ninth Symphony of Anton Bruckner (19 min.)
Sir Simon Rattle is certain: If Anton Bruckner had lived just two months longer, he would have been able to complete the finale of his Ninth Symphony. When he died in October 1896, the work on this movement was so far advanced that the original intentions of the composer can be reconstructed fairly precisely. This reconstruction was realised in Febuary 2012 – and performed by Sir Simon and the Berliner Philharmoniker. In our video, the conductor talks about the completion of the score.
