Lahav Shani

Conductor, piano

When the pianist, double bass player and conductor Lahav Shani became chief conductor of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, he was the youngest in the history of the ensemble. Shortly afterwards, the shooting star succeeded Zubin Mehta at the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra – a dream career with more to come: Shani will take over as conductor of the Münchner Philharmoniker in 2026. The musician, who is mentored by Daniel Barenboim, made his debut with the Berliner Philharmoniker in September 2022 – and also stepped in at short notice for the New Year’s Eve Concert a few weeks later for the indisposed Kirill Petrenko.
