Anna Prohaska

The soprano Anna Prohaska, who Daniel Barenboim brought to the Berlin Staatsoper “Unter den Linden” in 2006/07, has a close working relationship with the Berliner Philharmoniker: as a soloist with the orchestra, she has performed under the baton of Claudio Abbado, Sir Simon Rattle and Daniel Harding, among others.

Anna Prohaska completed her studies at the Hanns Eisler School of Music Berlin At the age of 18, she made her debut at the Komische Oper Berlin and soon afterwards at the Berlin Staatsoper “Unter den Linden”, where she joined the ensemble at the age of 23. Since then, the multi-award-winning Austrian-English singer’s extraordinary international career has taken her to major opera houses and outstanding orchestras and festivals – including the Theater an der Wien, La Scala in Milan, the Royal Opera House, the Paris Opera, Bayerische Staatsoper, as well as the Salzburg Festival and the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence. Her extraordinarily broad repertoire includes roles in works by Debussy, Gluck, Handel, Mahler, Mozart, Ligeti, Poulenc, Rihm, Schumann, Strauss, Verdi, Wagner and Widmann. Since her debut with the Berliner Philharmoniker in June 2007, Anna Prohaska has appeared regularly as a soloist with the orchestra and with Philharmoniker chamber ensembles.
