“Fellini, Jazz & Co.” with Riccardo Chailly at the Waldbühne
For his Waldbühne concert in 2011 Riccardo Chailly was keen to present a programme that went “beyond the typical repertory”. The result was a concert that included several works that the orchestra had never performed before, from Shostakovich’s Jazz Suite No. 2 to Nino Rota’s film music to La strada. Further impressions of Italy were provided by the tone poems of Ottorino Respighi, which whisked the audience away to the parks and fountains of Rome.
