“World Encores” with Mariss Jansons and Vadim Repin at the Waldbühne
A concert made up only of encores – this is conceivable only at the end-of-season concert that the Berliner Philharmoniker give each summer at the city’s Waldbühne. In 2002 they presented a varied panorama of World Encores – with operatic music by Massenet, Mascagni and Wagner, and New Year’s Eve concert classics by Ziehrer and Lumbye. Plus, there were spectacular virtuoso pieces by Paganini and Kreisler performed by Russian star violinist Vadim Repin.
