Matthias Pintscher in conversation with Raphael Haeger (19 min.)
The composer Matthias Pintscher, who received a commission from Claudio Abbado at the age of only 25, has had many of his works performed by the Berliner Philharmoniker. As a conductor, Pintscher made his debut with the orchestra in September 2015. In addition to his own Violin Concerto mar’eh with soloist Renaud Capuçon, his programme also included works by Arnold Schoenberg, Gabriel Fauré and Claude Debussy’s La Mer. To mark the occasion, Pintscher gave an interview to the Philharmoniker’s percussionist Raphael Haeger in which he talks about his affinity for French aesthetics, his relationship with the Berliner Philharmoniker and his development as a composer.
