Under the direction of Daniel Barenboim, the Philharmoniker and the Rundfunkchor Berlin performed Elgar’s oratorio The Dream of Gerontius in January 2012. Here, Simon Halsey, the then head of the vocal ensemble, presents an introduction to the work.
