Riccardo Chailly in conversation with Albrecht Mayer (15 min.)
At first glance, the Riccardo Chailly’s performance with the Berliner Philharmoniker from January 2013 was an evening of symphonic contrasts. Felix Mendelssohn’s Fourth Symphony, referred to by the composer himself as “Italian”, paired with the Sixth by Anton Bruckner, whose music is always associated with Catholic otherworldliness. In addition to excellent music enjoyment, the concert provided an opportunity to completely reassess such cherished preconceptions.
