Lisa Batiashvili in conversation with Albrecht Mayer (15 min.)
In 2004, Lisa Batiashvili made her acclaimed debut as a soloist with the Berliner Philharmoniker with Beethoven’s Violin Concerto. In her many appearances with the orchestra since then, she has performed works by Johannes Brahms, Antonín Dvořák, Dmitri Shostakovich and Béla Bartók, among others. In March 2021, she played Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto under the baton of Semyon Bychkov, a work which Batiashvili added to her repertoire relatively late. In an interview with Philharmoniker’s principal oboe Albrecht Mayer, the violinist, known for her effortless technique and natural musicality, tells us how she has personally experienced the pandemic. Other topics of conversation include the special atmosphere in the Philharmonie Berlin and the challenge of finding a balance between concert and family life.
