Toshio Hosokawa on his career and the images in his music (10 min.)
In a highly individual manner, the Hiroshima born Toshio Hosokawa seeks to revitalize traditional forms of composition. Moment of Blossoming is the title of his horn concerto – a tribute to the mythically revered lotus flower of Hosokawa’s homeland. The work is a musical portrayal of the lotus blossoming in a lake. In this video, soloist and dedicatee of the work, Stefan Dohr, principal horn with the Berliner Philharmoniker since 1993, talks with Toshio Hosokawa about the new work.
