Interview
Isabelle Faust in conversation with Wieland Welzel A Beethoven evening with Bernard Haitink and Isabelle Faust
In this concert from March 2015, Bernard Haitink conducts two of Beethoven’s most popular works. In the Pastorale, the composer shows an unusually relaxed side of himself: the focus is not on drama and conflict but rather human sensations in the face of nature. In the Violin Concerto performed in the first half, the soloist is Isabelle Faust, whose tone captivates in equal measure with “passion, grit, warmth and sweetness” (The New York Times).
