Europakonzert from Odessa with Kirill Petrenko

Berliner Philharmoniker
Kirill Petrenko

  • Gioacchino Rossini
    The Barber of Seville: overture

  • Leoš Janáček
    Taras Bulba, rhapsody for orchestra

  • Richard Strauss
    Don Juan, op. 20

  • Richard Strauss
Till Eulenspiegels lustige Streiche (Till Eulenspiegel’s Merry Pranks), op. 28

Very different heroes are the focus of this year’s Europakonzert from Odessa. The young Richard Strauss was as brilliant as he was self-confident. It is not surprising that he identified with the audacity of Don Juan and Till Eulenspiegel; his two symphonic poems are delightfully exultant self-portraits. Kirill Petrenko also conducts Leoš Janáček’s rhapsody on the tragic hero Taras Bulba.
