Jean-Yves Thibaudet in conversation with Andreas Ottensamer (17 min.)

Following Jean-Yves Thibaudet’s debut with the Berliner Philharmoniker playing Ravel’s Piano Concerto for the Left Hand, the programme for his second appearance with the orchestra in April 2016 included the G Major Concerto by the same composer. The French pianist feels particularly connected to the work which he performed in public when he was only 11 years of age. Thibaudet, who comes from a Franco-German family and now lives in California, talks to principal clarinetist Andreas Ottensamer about Ravel, the French style, working with the Berliner Philharmoniker and his group of artist friends, which has also included Tugan Sokhiev, the conductor of this concert, for many years.
