50 Years – The 12 Cellists of the Berliner Philharmoniker
Anniversary concert of the 12 Cellists
In 1972, the Austrian broadcaster ORF engaged the Berliner Philharmoniker’s cello section for a radio recording of Julius Klengel’s Hymnus for 12 cellos. This was the birth of an ensemble that today enjoys cult status. With their multi-faceted sound and a repertoire that ranges from classical to avant-garde, and from jazz to tango, the 12 Cellists delight audiences all over the world. They celebrated their 50th anniversary with this concert, a showcase of their very finest works and arrangements.
