Frank Peter Zimmermann

violin

Frank Peter Zimmermann is one of the great violinists of our time. Effortless technique and impeccable taste make the artist, who has been awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany 1st Class, the ideal performer of a repertoire which ranges from Bach’s Violin Concertos to world premieres of works dedicated to him.

The musician, who was born in Duisburg in 1965, gave his first public performance when he was only ten, before appearing as a chamber musician and as a soloist with the foremost orchestras and conductors all over the world. Together with the Berliner Philharmoniker, Zimmermann has premiered violin concertos by Matthias Pintscher and Magnus Lindberg. Above all, he is one of the orchestra’s most loyal artistic partners. In addition to the showpieces for his instrument by Mozart, Beethoven and Brahms, the violinist has also given dazzling performances in concerts together with the Philharmoniker playing rarely heard works such as those by Paul Hindemith and Bohuslav Martinů.
