Zubin Mehta conducts Mahler’s Third Symphony
Gustav Mahler wrote that “the whole of nature” finds in his Third Symphony “a voice and tells of the kind of profound secrets that might be sensed in a dream”. In this concert, the monumental, world-encompassing work is heard in an interpretation by Zubin Mehta, “whose energy was not expended rashly with sensational flailing about; instead, he devoted himself to the expansive arc of the work with expressive tranquillity” (neue musikzeitung).
