The First Viennese School brought central genres of orchestral music to the fore, such as the symphony and the solo concerto. We owe this especially to composers such as Joseph Haydn, Ludwig van Beethoven and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, who remain indispensable stalwarts in the Berliner Philharmoniker’s repertoire to this day.
